Known and acknowledged as the Milk Capital of India, the home to the world-famous AMUL Dairy includes farming to big scale industries. The administrative center of Anand District, which is located 101 km from the state capital Gandhinagar, is managed and administered by the Anand Municipality. The city, which offers Asia’s largest milk cooperative and world’s largest pouched milk brand Amul, is situated 35 km from Vadodara. It hosts Anand Agricultural University and the National Dairy Development Board of India. Not only in India, but Anand Milk Union Limited also covers the markets of Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, USA, UAE, Mauratius, Singapore, Japan and Sri Lanka. With bread spreads, Amul milk, cheese, UHT milk, Amul PRO, paneer, ice cream, ghee, dahi, pouch buttermilk, etc., the milk cooperative is daily processing more than a million tonnes of milk which is a considerable amount anywhere in the world.
