Fondly known as the city of Tehzeeb (culture) or the City of Nawabs, the capital of Uttar Pradesh has derived its name from Lakshman, younger brother of Lord Ram, according to popular belief. It is believed that Lord Rama had ordered Lakshman to establish a town that today is known as Lucknow.
